Hello guys, I'm actually for a place in Montréal where they sell rare Asian movies (with English or French sub-titles). Obviously, in order to satisfy my whim, I'm just looking for masterpieces that few people have obviously heard of. Here's my "wish" list (I'd be very glad if you can help me!): The Killer (Hong Kong) Days of Being Wild (Hong Kong) Ashes of Time (Hong Kong) Chungking Express (Hong Kong) Fallen Angels (Hong Kong) A Better Tomorrow 1,2,3 (Hong Kong) Hard Boiled (Hong Kong) Dark Water (Japan) Ran (Japan) 3-Iron (South Korea) Old Boy (South Korea) Anyway that's the movies that I really want to see and I'm actually looking foward to see at a movie theater Wong Kar-Wai's latest movie 2046, the movie that was supposed to win the "Palme d'Or" at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2004... It's hard to find one in Montreal, try looking in Chinatown. But the ideal place will be in Toronto if you want greater choice and prices.

Sure. I have been trying to check at "Métro Vidéo" at Peel subway station or in Carrefour Laval (this is normally where I buy Asian movies), but they don't sell many Asian masterpieces like the movies that I have mentionned in my wish list. As for Toronto, I've had the occasion to check it during summer and all I could find is a bunch of American movies and recent Asian movies that have never heard of and that have been produced during the last 2 years. Anyway, thanks for the advice. ______________________ Are you looking for something different than the mainstream media in order to have a debate? Then visit: http://anhkhoi.blogspot.com |

Actually, to be more precise; the dvd selling places I found are from Scarborough. For two years, I went to Toronto to only be in Scarborough and neighborhood boroughs... So many cheap things there, and the food there is awesome!

Hmm. Normally I buy my Asian movies at "Métro Vidéo" (either at the Peel subway station or in Carrefour Laval), but how expensive they are! Here's the price scale: $9,99 to $15: The price of a stupid movie or old kung fu movies that no one wants to see... $16 to 20$: An acclaimed movie (obviously, the price has lowered due to the lack of demand) or an average one. $21 to $25: Recent movies, but god, they are good! 26$ to $35: Not only good recent movies, but also masterpieces!?!?! $36 to $45: A special edition or a two-discs set!!??! What the * is that?!? Anyway, that's supposed to give you an idea of how expensive Asian movies are when they are bought legally. The real question is where to find "illegal Asian DVDs " that cost less in Montreal, I don't want to go to Toronto all the time just to get Asian movies.
